Site Changes

We have made significant changes to the site recently, here are some of the major ones:

1) We have consolidated the Application Development information into one central page (and sub-pages will be added as time goes on) so that it will be easier to see "at a glance" what we do and have done in past projects.

2) We have added new CMS pages to highlight our increasing focus on Content Management Site Development.

3) We have added the new "Media Development" section due to our growing work in Flash Movies and Apps, and our increased focus on Graphics.

Content Management Web Sites

	CMS Web Sites allow users to make changes through their Browsers	Probably the single most appealing part of a CMS Web Site when we talk to potential Customers about them is the capability to make updates to the site through standard Internet Browsers. If you are unframiliar with what a CMS Site is, check out our Fast Description of CMS paper.
	CMS Web Sites Sitewide appearance can be changed quickly	One of a Content Management System's most appealing capabilities is that it's appearance can be changed fast. By applying what are called "skins" to a CMS site, the appearance of the entire Site can be changed, reducing what in "static" sites is days or weeks of work to an hour or so.
	CMS Systems allow for "Plug-In Functionality" upgrading	Another significant reason for the big interest in CMS Web Sites is the fact that most of them (and of course the one we recommend for our Customers) allow for "Plug-In" functions; and what we mean here is that if you decided some time after your CMS Site was up and running that you wanted a "Forum", "Blog", or "Review" capability, most CMS systems allow you to simply install the software that produces the required function and it becomes available to the Site (it still has to be put into a Page to be used, but that is a lot of capability with very little work)

Flash Movies and RIA Programming

	Web Site Flash Animation can be used for attracting attention	Flash Movies are frequently used to attract attention to Web Sites, and at DIS we have done many Web-Based Animation projects for Sites; from Logos that open and close like Garage Doors, to animated Urban Photography Collages, Flash sets the standard for this type of application. 	Flash Animation can animate complete Software Demos and use tutorials	Flash Movies do a great job of showing how Software or other Computer-based applications work; they can walk users through Web or Desktop operations, and the whole Movie can be shown from a Disk or a Web Site. This Flash use will typically include a sound track of narration and show mouse movement on the screen, and at DIS we have done this type of demo and will be happy to get you access to an example.
	Flash can be used to perform many programming functions, combined with animation	Flash Movies are frequently used for their "behind the scenes" programming capabilities which can include things taking some action like Web Site page redirection (going to a given page) in response to a given user operation, looking up a user's Login information, manipulating files, etc. See our Media Development Section for more information.
